A truck departs the Power Precast Products, factory, in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico, on Jan 12, with three 65-foot-long cement utility poles, destined for distribution to the USACE contract workforce. Each pole weighs about 8,000 pounds. Soon after Hurricane Maria passed through the island, and damage assessments began, FEMA authorized a contract with Power Precast Products, Corp., to manufacture 45, 55 and 65-feet-long cement utility poles, along with its component self-support base.
