U.S Soldiers assigned to 1st Battalion, 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne) prepares to board a Japanese CH-47 Chinook during the Japanese Ground Self Defense Forces (JGSDF) annual new years Jump ceremony at Narashino Drop Zone, Narashino, Japan, Jan. 12, 2018. The jump ceremony is an annual event which is conducted as a rite of passage to ensure the soldiers of 1st Airborne Brigade conduct safe airborne operations throughout the year, and also to enhance their responsibilities and espirit de corp.
