The Department of Defense formally announced in early June 1967 its plan to reorganize the historic 32nd “Red Arrow” of the Wisconsin Army National Guard into a brigade. A Dec. 30, 1967 reorganization replaced the 32nd Division with the 32nd Separate Brigade and enhanced the Wisconsin Army National Guard’s mission as a strategic reserve to the U.S. Army.
