Firefighters battle a fire after a simulated helicopter crash during a training event held in the Northwestern State University parking lot Jan. 19. Leesville and New Llano fire departments participated in the exercise, led by the Fort Polk Fire Department, to gain knowledge in what to expect in the event of a downed aircraft. The cooperative training is part of a Private-Public Partnership that pairs Army and civilian resources for mutual benefit.
