Soldiers from 3rd Battalion, 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne) use flashlights and headlamps to explore the Ape Caves during a single Soldier retreat south of Mount St. Helens, Wa., Dec. 13. The single soldier program led by Chaplain (Cpt.) Christopher Kitchens, the battalion chaplain, was designed to both bring them together and promote unit buy-in through congregating and exploring the area around Joint Base Lewis-McChord.
