Marine veteran Sgt. Jose Gonzalez, from San Antonio, competed in the 2011 Warrior Games track and field meet, May 17 in Colorado Springs, Colo., and walked away with a first place finish in the 800-meter, 100-meter, 200-meter races in the open category and a gold medal as the first leg of the 4x100-meter relay. The Uvalde High School graduate was injured from multiple improvised explosive devices during his deployment to Iraq in 2005 with 3rd Battalion, 25th Marine Regiment.
