COMBAT OUTPOST OUELLETTE, Helmand province, Islamic Republic of Afghanistan – The weapons on an M-1A1 “Abrams” Main Battle Tank point toward the night sky. The Marines with 1st Tank Battalion are the first to roll tanks into Afghanistan. The unit has played a huge roll in the successful completion of Route 611. The paved road is now a logistics route from Camp Leatherneck to several other outposts and bases and allows local residents a means of transporting goods to market centers.
