    31st Marine Expeditionary Unit

Lance Cpl. Justin Lilley, a motor vehicle operator with Battalion Landing Team, 3rd Battalion, 5th Marines, lifts a main pack into a shipping container at Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan, Nov. 14, 2017. BLT 1/1 will replace BLT 3/5 as the Ground Combat Element for the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit. While with the 31st MEU, BLT 3/5 explored state-of-the-art concepts and technologies as the dedicated force for Sea Dragon 2025, a Marine Corps initiative to prepare for future battles. The 31st MEU provides a flexible force ready to perform a wide range of military operations, from limited combat to humanitarian assistance, throughout the Indo-Asia-Pacific region as the Marine Corps’ only continuously forward-deployed MEU.
