    31st Marine Expeditionary Unit

Main packs sit staged while Marines with Battalion Landing Team, 3rd Battalion, 5th Marines, load gear into shipping containers at Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan, Nov. 14, 2017. BLT 1/1 will replace BLT 3/5 as the Ground Combat Element for the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit. While with the 31st MEU, BLT 3/5 explored state-of-the-art concepts and technologies as the dedicated force for Sea Dragon 2025, a Marine Corps initiative to prepare for future battles. The 31st MEU provides a flexible force ready to perform a wide range of military operations, from limited combat to humanitarian assistance, throughout the Indo-Asia-Pacific region as the Marine Corps’ only continuously forward-deployed MEU.
