Cmdr. Cherie Blanzola, officer in charge of Branch Health Clinic accepts a certificate of commendation presented to the clinic from Brig. Gen. Frederick Padilla, commanding general of Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island and the eastern recruiting region, April 13. The award was presented for the sailors quick action in identifying, assessing and treating more than 580 recruits and 60 staff members within two hours of notification of the potential for the spread of a life threatening disease on Feb. 7. "The reason we were so successful is because we have successful people working here," Blanzola said. "Everyone stepped up to do the best they can just like they do every day."
