Lt. Col. John Cross, commander of 1st “Vanguard” Battalion, 18th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Advise and Assist Brigade, 1st Infantry Division, United States Division – Center and an Elk City, Okla., native, pins the Combat Action Badge on Pfc. Emmanuel Iloh, a combat engineer with Company C, Special Troops Battalion, 2nd AAB, 1st Inf. Div., USD-C and a Marietta, Ga., native, March 26 at Camp Taji, Iraq. The badge provides recognition to non-infantry soldiers who personally engage enemy forces in combat or are engaged by an enemy force. The combat engineers of C Company were involved in a recent convoy that was struck by an improvised device. (U.S. Army photo by Pfc. Robert J. Harvey, 2nd AAB, 1st Inf. Div., USD-C)
