Distinguished American and Japanese guests cut the ribbon during a ceremony to celebrate the first year of the Matthew C. Perry, Iwakuni Elementary Schools at Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Japan, Oct. 2, 2017. The ceremony celebrated the opening of new facilities used for the elementary schools. The buildings were designed and constructed by Japanese and American organizations with the objective of improving the learning environment for students on the air station.
