U.S. Army Sgt. Raymond G. Green, information technology specialist, 642nd Regional Support Group, fires an M249 light machine gun Aug. 23, 2017, at Pelham Range in Ft. McClellan, Ala. Fondly referred as a SAW (Squad Automatic Weapon), the M249 gives Soldiers the high rate of fire of a machine gun combined with the accuracy and portability of a rifle.
