170920-N-RD713-071 WHITE BEACH (Sept. 20, 2017) Chief Warrant Officer 3 Daryle Howard explains Marine embark procedures and processes to members of the Amphibious Rapid Deployment Brigade (ARDB) pre-commissioning unit, which will become the amphibious arm of the Japan Ground Self-Defense Forces’ Western Army. The exchange was held as part of ongoing efforts between the U.S. and Japan to increase combined amphibious capability in support of the two nations’ longstanding alliance. Bonhomme Richard, flagship of the Bonhomme Richard Expeditionary Strike Group, is operating in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region to enhance partnerships and be a ready-response force for any type of contingency.
