Marines assigned to the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit, aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge (LHD 3), take in foreign humanitarian assistance supplies during a replenishment-at-sea from the ship USNS William McLean in the Caribbean Sea, Sept. 20, 2017. USS Kearsarge is assisting with relief efforts following hurricanes Irma and Maria. The Department of Defense conducts Defense Support of Civil Authorities operations to assist civilian responders in saving lives, relieving human suffering and mitigating property damage in response to a catastrophic disaster.
