Marines with III Marine Expeditionary Force load a palette of bottled water and Chemical Biological Radiological Nuclear gear into a KC-130J Super Hercules aircraft to be transported to Atsugi, Japan in support of Operation Tomodachi at Marine Corps Air Station Futenma, March 16. More than 140 cases of bottled water and CBRN gear will be delivered to Marines in mainland Japan. Marines and sailors from III MEF are actively providing support for foreign humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operations in mainland Japan. The name Tomodachi, which means “friends” in Japanese, was chosen by the government of Japan.
