U.S. 5 TH FLEET AREA OF OPERATIONS (Sept. 15, 2017) - Hospital Corpsman 2nd Class Aaron Guishard, a native of Saint Thomas, Virgin Islands, assigned to the medical department aboard the amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6), moves supplies from the ship’s hangar bay to storage spaces. America is the flagship for the America Amphibious Ready Group and, with the embarked 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit, is deployed in support of maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations.
