Todd Effinger, supply technician with the Subsistence Supply Management Office, sorts packaged food items that have been returned to the SSMO by units training at Fort McCoy on Aug. 23, 2017. The SSMO’s reutilization program makes sure food isn’t wasted after training by making the food available to incoming units at Fort McCoy. If food can’t be used by arriving units within the expiration date, it is instead donated to the Hunger Task Force of La Crosse, which distributes supplies to local hunger and emergency-relief programs.
