An A-10C Thunderbolt II aircraft from the 175th Wing, Maryland Air National Guard, taxis down the runway after landing Aug. 16, 2017, for a forward air refueling exercise during Operation Heatwave at Kuressaare Airfield, Estonia. The flying training deployment is funded by the European Reassurance Initiative in support of Operation Atlantic Resolve. The U.S. Air Force’s forward presence in Europe allows the U.S. to work with allies and partners to develop and improve ready air forces capable of maintaining regional security.
