A U.S. Army flight crew chief mans a machine gun inside a CH-47 Chinook Aug. 9, 2017, near Tapa Army Base, Estonia. U.S Army Soldiers from the 10th Combat Aviation Brigade, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum, New York, are participating in alongside U.S. Airmen and aircraft from the 175th Wing, Maryland Air National Guard for a flying training deployment. The FTD is funded by the European Reassurance Initiative in support of Operation Atlantic Resolve. The U.S. Air Force’s forward presence in Europe allows the U.S. to work with allies and partners to develop and improve ready air forces capable of maintaining regional security.
