Members from Coast Guard Air Station Barbers Point and Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency prepare to transfer a case of unidentified remains onto a Coast Guard HC-130 Hercules airplane to be transferred to Oahu from the Solomon Islands, Aug. 8, 2017. The remains were brought back to DPAA’s Oahu facility for care and attempted identification. Of the 16 million Americans who served in World War II, more than 400,000 died during the war.
