170729-N-UX013-027 CAIRNS, Australia (July 29, 2017) Religious Programs Specialist 1st Class Christopher Sandker, assigned to the amphibious dock landing ship USS Ashland (LSD 48), explains the ship’s capabilities while visiting a patient at Cairns Base Hospital. Ashland, part of the Bonhomme Richard Expeditionary Strike Group (ESG), is in Cairns to advance U.S.-Australian relations after participating in the bilateral training exercise Talisman Saber. During the visit, Sailors and Marine are participating in community relations projects and experiencing the culture of the historic city.
