    Pfc. Shane Davenport, a rifleman with Alpha Company, 1st Battalion, 23rd Marine Regiment, pokes his head around the corner of a building in a mock Afghan village, ensuring there are no threats for his fire team to maneuver to another location. The infantry immersion training took place at Camp Pendleton, Calif., Jan. 11-12, as part of intermediate location training as the infantry battalion prepares for a six-month deployment to Afghanistan.
