A young man in a black fleece jacket stands on the deck of a naval or military vessel, speaking into a handheld radio or communication device with an orange cord. He is leaning against a railing and looking out toward the open ocean. The sky is clear and blue with minimal cloud cover, suggesting calm weather conditions at sea.

170717-N-ZW825-134 CORAL SEA (July 17, 2017) Lt. j.g. Russ Isham, from Bellevue, Nebraska, makes a report from the port bridge wing during an air defense exercise aboard Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Sterett (DDG 104) as part of Talisman Saber 17. The exercise is intended to flex the “Up-Gunned Expeditionary Strike Group (ESG)” concept using cruiser and destroyer assets to protect the ESG against air threats. Talisman Saber is a biennial U.S.-Australia bilateral exercise held off the coast of Australia meant to achieve interoperability and strengthen the U.S.-Australia alliance.
