Maj. Jared Reddinger (Left) and Sgt. Troy Harris recognize Krystina Lorch for being selected as one of ninety-eight students in America to receive the Semper Fi All American award at West Valley High School's softball banquet May 31, 2017. Lorch has overcome a serious eye injury since she was ten years old. A playground accident almost left her blinded forever. After serious dedication, treatment and positive mindset she has overcome a permanent cataract in her eye and has earned a scholarship to play softball at Felician University in the fall of 2017. Lorch, from Hemet, California, will attend the Battles Won Academy in Washington D.C. this summer, accompanied by her mother, Lisa, who she gives credit for helping her throughout her recovery and softball career. She is currently a junior at West Valley High School. Reddinger, from Chewelah, Washington, is the commanding officer for Marine Corps Recruiting Station San Diego, 12th Marine Corps District, Western Recruiting Region, Marine Corps Recruiting Command. Harris, from Portland, Oregon is a recruiter with Marine Corps Recruiting Sub-Station Temecula, RS San Diego, 12th MCD, WRR, MCRC. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Sgt. William Hester/ Released)
