Krystina Lorch (Center Left) and her mother, Lisa (Center Right), stand with their awards, presented by Maj. Jared Reddinger (Left) and Sgt. Troy Harris (Right), for Krystina being selected as a Semper Fi All American during West Valley High School's softball banquet May 31, 2017. Krystina chose to bring her mother as a mentor to Washington D.C. to attend the Battles Won Academy because she said she is her role model, idol and biggest influence. Krystina suffered from a serious eye injury at the age of ten, and it has limited her ability to play sports throughout the years. With treatment, dedication and family support, Krystina has overcome this challenge and has earned a scholarship to play softball at Felician University in the Fall of 2018. Reddinger, from Chewelah, Washington, is the commanding officer for Marine Corps Recruiting Station San Diego, 12th Marine Corps Recruiting District, Western Recruiting Region, Marine Corps Recruiting Command. Harris, from Portland, Oregon, is a recruiter with Marine Corps Recruiting Sub-Station Temecula, RS San Diego, 12th MCD, WRR, MCRC. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Sgt. William Hester/ Released)
