Master Chief Larry Howard, command master chief of USS Mount Whitney, shakes hands with Italian Carabinieri Capt. Pasquale Saccone during a holiday reception held for the local Gaeta community aboard Mount Whitney. The reception was hosted by Vice Adm. Harry B. Harris Jr., commander of the U.S. 6th Fleet, and Mount Whitney to highlight the rich bond the U.S. 6th Fleet Flag ship has with its homeport community. Mount Whitney, an amphibious command ship, is the U.S. 6th Fleet flagship and operates with a hybrid crew of U.S. sailors and Military Sealift Command civil service mariners.
