U.S. Marine Corps Pfc. Sean G. McCool of Platoon 2044, Golf Company, 2nd Recruit Training Battalion, waits on the sideline before leading his platoon during final drill May 31, 2017, on Parris Island, S.C. As guide of the platoon, McCool, 19, from Sharpsburg, Ga., was responsible for carrying the guidon during the drill evaluation. Golf Company graduated June 9, 2017. Today, approximately 19,000 recruits come to Parris Island annually for the chance to become United States Marines by enduring 12 weeks of rigorous, transformative training.
