GALLE, Sri Lanka (June 14, 2017) Operations Specialist 3rd Class Yvonne Dent assigned to the Ticonderoga-class guided missile cruiser USS Lake Erie (CG 70) takes a "selfie" with children from the Mallika Nawodya School. Lake Erie is in Sri Lanka to support humanitarian assistance operations in the wake of severe flooding and landslides that devastated many regions of the country. Recent heavy rainfalls brought by a southwest monsoon triggered flooding and landslides throughout the country, displacing thousands of people and causing significant damage to homes and buildings.
