U.S. Air Force Col. Leigh Swanson, 35th Medical Group commander, administered a change of command ceremony between Lt. Col. Brett Carner, 35th Medical Operations Squadron outgoing commander, and Lt. Col. Eric Hendrickson, 35th MDOS incoming commander, at Misawa Air Base, Japan, June 6, 2017. Today, the primary purpose of the change of command is to allow subordinates to witness the formal transfer of total responsibility, authority and accountability from one officer to another.
