Marine Sgt. Giles Decker runs back and forth while stuck in a ‘pickle’ during a friendship softball game June 11 aboard Camp Kinser, Okinawa, Japan. The teams were integrated, which helped bridge the culture gap, building camaraderie between the local and military communities. Leaders of the military and local community participated in this event: the mayor of Urasoe City, members of the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force, members of city hall, members of the Urasoe City Police Department, the U.S. consul general, the sergeant major of Camp Kinser and Feyedelem, the Camp Kinser camp commander, and Marines from Camp Kinser.
