The image shows a large dam structure with water being discharged at high velocity through spillways, creating white turbulent foam in the foreground. Downstream, the water calms into a wide river channel flanked by green vegetation islands and sandy desert terrain. The arid landscape and architectural style are consistent with a major dam in a desert region, likely the Aswan High Dam area in Egypt.

Water flows from the Tabqah Dam toward Raqqah during an assessment conducted by engineers from Special Operations Joint Task Force – Operation Inherent Resolve with Syrian Democratic Forces May 17, 2017, to assess the water levels after they liberated the area from ISIS. Engineers assessed the dam is structurally sound and will continue to monitor water levels. Before ISIS used the dam as a prison and a headquarters, the dam provided up to 20 percent of Syria's electricity and irrigated critical farmland throughout the area. CJTF–OIR is the global Coalition to defeat ISIS in Iraq and Syria.
