Sharing a cultural moment, Lt. Rick H. Madlangbayan, Naval Hospital Bremerton (NHB), Internal Medicine Division Officer and Clinic Manager, with family roots from the Republic of the Philippines, watches NHB staff members during the command's annual 'Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month' recognition ceremony held May 30, 2017. Madlangbayan grew up in Oxnard, Calif. and joined the military as a hospital corpsman in 1996 after high school graduation. Since then, he attended Southern Illinois University in 2002 where he achieved his BS in Healthcare Management and followed that academic achievement by graduating from California State University Northridge and University of Phoenix in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Nursing and then was commissioned as a Navy Nurse Corps officer the same year (Official Navy photo by Douglas H Stutz, NHB Public Affairs).
