170522-N-OI810-038 WATERS SOUTH OF JAPAN (May 22, 2017) Hospital Corpsman 3rd Class (SW) Davondrion Compton, a surgical technician, from Bunkie, Louisiana, injects Boatswain's Mate 3rd Class (SW/AW) Steven Wright, from Newark, New Jersey, with local anesthetic aboard the Navy's forward-deployed aircraft carrier, USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76). Compton was preparing Wright for an oral frenectomy, which was the first oral-laser surgery performed aboard a forward-deployed aircraft carrier. Ronald Reagan, the flagship of Carrier Strike Group 5, provides a combat-ready force that protects and defends the collective maritime interests of its allies and partners in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.
