170515-N-OL837-043 SPOKANE, Washington (May 15, 2017) Chief Culinary Specialist Pedro Caro, from Los Angeles, and Machinist Mate First Class Jessica Abalde, from Chicago, assigned to USS Constitution, prepare boxes for produce packing at 2nd Harvest Food Bank during a community service project for Spokane Navy Week. Since 2005, the Navy Week program has served as the Navy's principal outreach effort into areas of the country without a significant Navy presence, with 195 Navy Weeks held in 71 different U.S. cities. The program is designed to help Americans understand that their Navy is deployed around the world, around the clock, ready to defend America at all times.
