Pfc. Dominique D. Kuykendall fires at a short-range target during close-quarters marksmanship training, Nov. 4, at Camp Kami-Furano, Japan, during Orient Shield 11, while Sgt. Christopher T. Kiel looks on. Both soldiers belong to 1st Battalion, 138th Infantry Regiment, Missouri Army National Guard. The 10-day exercise is a bilateral event meant to improve interoperability between the two nations. The U.S. and Japan are celebrating the 50-year anniversary of the Treaty of Mutual Cooperation and Security, signed in January of 1960.
