To commemorate its historic legacy, Team Moody and the local community celebrated a tree’s induction into the Live Oak Society registry, earning the name “Flying Tiger Oak,” April 28, 2017, at Moody Air Force Base, Ga. This tree is one of approximately 8,300 nationally registered live oaks across 14 states, known for its prestigious tradition, location and size. Dr. Lucy Greene, Moody Support Committee executive director, reached out to community leaders about getting the tree recognized, which was accepted for its significance of pre-dating Moody AFB and being symbolic of the communities’ bond.
