Air Force Staff Sgt. Michaelson, south tactical lane team leader, pops smoke at Atlantic Strike 10-02 on Sept. 14, 2010. Popping smoke is one of the ways the team leads get the joint terminal attack controller and joint fires observer to have a sense of urgency. STAC is one of four different lanes for which Atlantic Strike is set up. Atlantic Strike is a biannual Air Combat Command sponsored joint training exercise designed for the tactical employment of air power in support of joint terminal attack controller and joint fires observer integration through close air support.
