A U.S. Navy amphibious warship flight deck showing active helicopter handling operations. Crew members in yellow jerseys are maneuvering at least two helicopters using a deck tractor/tow vehicle near the ship's hangar bay. The angular, stealthy superstructure design is consistent with a San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock (LPD).

170501-N-BK384-042 PACIFIC OCEAN (May 1, 2017) Flight deck personnel aboard amphibious transport dock ship USS San Diego (LPD 22) spot the aircraft during Composite Training Unit Exercise (COMPTUEX). 1,800 Sailors and 2,600 Marines assigned to the America Ampibious Ready Group (ARG) and the 15th marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) are currently conducting a Composite Training Unit exercise (COMPTUEX) off the coast of Southern California in preparation for the ARG’s deployment later this year. The America ARG is comprised of San Diego, the amphibious dock landing ship, USS Pearl Harbor (LSD 52), and the amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6).
