A mother and daughter pair team together to plant seedlings in field in Estonia, April 28, 2017. The community event is in celebration of Earth Day, observed April 20. The mother uses pottiputki, a tree planting tool, while the daughter drops the seedlings into the pipe. When transplanted, the seedlings are already three to four years old. The invitation to join in the celebrations serve as evidence of the unity between Estonia and her NATO allies, who are currently participating in Operation Atlantic Resolve and strengthening deterrence capabilities with partnered forces. Operation Atlantic Resolve, a U.S. led effort in Eastern Europe, demonstrates U.S. commitment to the collective security of NATO and dedication to enduring peace and stability in the region.
