Marko Pomerants, the Estonian Minister of the Environment, gives a demonstration of how to operate a pottiputki, a tree planting tool, to a crowd of Estonian citizens and U.S. Army Soldiers, April 28, 2017. The celebration of Earth Day, observed April 20th, is the core behind the community event. Pomerants gives the demonstration in the field where the audience will plant seedlings. The invitation to join in the celebrations serve as evidence of the unity between Estonia and her NATO allies, who are currently participating in Operation Atlantic Resolve and strengthening deterrence capabilities with partnered forces. Operation Atlantic Resolve, a U.S. led effort in Eastern Europe, demonstrates U.S. commitment to the collective security of NATO and dedication to enduring peace and stability in the region.
