Biologists with Natural Resources and Environmental Affairs rehydrate a desert tortoise as part of a health assessment during the Desert Tortoise translocation, April 12, 2017, which was facilitated by the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center, Twentynine Palms, Calif. The translocation, in accordance with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service-signed Biological Opinion, serves as a negotiated mitigation to support a congressionally mandated land expansion which, will afford the Combat Center the ability to conduct Large Scale Exercise training of a Marine Expeditionary Brigade-level force.
