Personnel Specialist 2nd Class Aston Asamoah, from Richmond, California, and Yeoman 3rd Class Rod Simmons (AW), from Dyersburg, Tennessee, apply a soft-patch to a pipe during pipe-patching training in the hangar bay of the Navy’s only forward-deployed aircraft carrier, USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76). Soft patches can be used to patch pipes containing pressures up to 150 pounds per square inch.
