    EAST CHINA SEA (March 8, 2017) Quartermaster 3rd Class Felicia Gilbert (left), from Charleston, South Carolina, and Quartermaster 2nd Class Aaron Urquhart, from Portsmouth, Virginia, decode a flag signal from Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force destroyer JS Sazanami (DD 113) aboard Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Wayne E. Meyer (DDG 108) during a flag hoisting exercise between Carl Vinson Carrier Strike Group and Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force. Wayne E. Meyer is on a regularly scheduled Western Pacific deployment with the Carl Vinson Carrier Strike Group as part of the U.S. Pacific Fleet-led initiative to extend the command and control functions of U.S. 3rd Fleet into the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.
