Members of Maritime Civil Affairs Team 115 assess the placement of a 5,000 liter water cistern with residents of Fundo Island, a small islet that is part of Pemba Island, Sept. 13. The cisterns will enable the residents of Fundo to have a reliable water source during power outages, which disable the pumps that supply Fundo through a pipeline from the main island of Pemba. The Little Creek, Va., based MCAT 115 is deployed to Tanzania as part of Combined Joint Task Force - Horn of Africa. Maritime Civil Affairs Teams are deployed worldwide to assess partner-nation infrastructure and enhance capacity.
