A 163rd Fighter Squadron A-10 from Fort Wayne, Indiana, fires flares or chaff, a countermeasure to missile and rocket targeting mechanisms. This was done in response to a simulated threat during a training exercise outside Tucson, Arizona.
A-10 aircraft, crew and support personnel from the 122nd Fighter Wing traveled to Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Arizona, for Operation Snowbird, an exercise at the Total Force Training Center. They participate in various training scenarios during the day and into the evening.
