A soldier with the Japanese Ground Self-Defense Force’s, Western Army Infantry Regiment, ejects a 7.62 mm casing after firing his M24 Sniper Rifle during a known distance range conducted by Marines with 1st Marine Division Schools ‘Pre-Scout Sniper Course’ during Exercise Iron Fist 2017 aboard Camp Pendleton, Feb. 7, 2017. The range consisted of firing the M24 Sniper Rifle at targets from 100 to 550 meters away. Iron Fist is an annual, bilateral training exercise where U.S. and Japanese service members train together and share techniques, tactics and procedure to improve their combined operational capabilities.
