ANTARCTICA (Jan. 28, 2017) Chief Boatswain Mate Gerald Benton, assigned to Navy Cargo Handling Battalion ONE (NCHB-1), overseas the back-load of a crane preparing to return to the United Sates on MV Ocean Giant. NCHB-1 is deployed to the National Science Foundation's research facility, McMurdo Station, they conduct cargo handling operations as a part of Operation DEEP FREEZE supporting the U.S. Antarctic Program through logistical support.
