Dr. Gregory Fox, a native of Tuscon, Ariz., and a member of the Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command bags a set of remains on Aug 12, while working on the island of Tarawa, Reublic of Kiribati. The remains were discovered in the Village of Betio and turned over to the local governemnt who then turned them over to the JPAC team. The team is in Tarawa to recover remains of U.S. Marines that died during the Battle of Tarawa in Nov. 1943.
