A large U.S. Navy Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer is seen from a pier or dock, with two civilians standing in the foreground observing the vessel. The ship is flying multiple signal flags and an American flag from its mast structure. The scene appears to be a homecoming, departure, or port visit at a Pacific Northwest naval installation, suggested by the mountainous, forested background and overcast sky.

Seattle resident Tod McClaskey and his granddaughter watch the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Kidd depart Pier 66 after participating in the 61st annual Seattle Seafair Navy Week. Seafair activities allow U.S. and Canadian Sailors and Coast Guard personnel to experience the local community and to promote awareness of the maritime forces.
